After my first trip to Egypt back in 2010, when I was still a vegetarian, I discovered real tahini (or as they call it there, tahina), and ate it with everything. As salad dressing, as meze, as sandwich spread... I could not get enough of it. It was like peanut butter, only different – more exotic, more versatile, and better.

scoop raw vegan protein powder (I used Sunwarrior vanilla)
cup raw almond milk
frozen banana
tbsp chia seeds
tbsp organic ground cinnamon
tsp organic ground cardamon
drops liquid vanilla Stevia (for sweetness)
cup ice

A few years later I discovered a recipe Cinnamon Tahini Protein Smoothie by Nutritionstripped, one of my favourite food bloggers and sources of healthy recipes. I was overjoyed to replicate my Egypt experience at home, and adapted the recipe by adding one of my favourite spices: cardamon. It turned out simply divine.... a mix of chai and tahini in a nutrition bomb.

Steps

Combine all the ingredients in a blender until you get a smooth, creamy consistency.
Pour into a glass and garnish with extra chia seeds.
10 min Serve cold, and enjoy!

Cinnamon, spice, and everything nice! This is one hell of a raw vegan treat, packed with nutrients, antioxidants, and of course, protein. Rich and unusually nutty-flavoured thanks to the tahini and chia, this smoothie packs in the protein and essential fats.

Macro-tip: to make it lighter, simply skip the banana.
